Spring in Fred!
Wildflowers, spring wine, the local farmer’s market and warm weather in the air - it’s the prettiest time for outdoor activities and here’s a few of our favorites!
Willow City Loop
Tucked just outside of Fredericksburg, the iconic Willow City Loop is one of the most breathtaking drives in the Texas Hill Country. This 13-mile scenic route winds through rolling hills, ranchland, limestone outcroppings, and wide-open skies that feel almost cinematic. In the spring, the landscape transforms into a vibrant tapestry of bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and wildflowers. Especially magical to drive at sunset and grab a burger from Pecan Grove on your way back into town.
Farmer’s Market
Grab some fresh produce and treats at the Fredericksburg Farmers' Market. The market is held at Marketplatz on Thursdays from 4-7 p.m starting March 26th. Some of our favorites include pizza from Joju’s Bakery, delish dumplings from Dumpling Diva, local wine and fresh cut flowers. Pro tip: get their early if you want to snag a pizza, they go quick.
Berry Picking at Jenschke Orchards
Berry picking at Jenschke Orchards is one of those simple Hill Country pleasures that never gets old. Grab a bucket, wander the rows, and snack as you go — the strawberries and blackberries are sweet, juicy and even better when hand picked. It’s an easy, wholesome outing that feels just right on a sunny Fredericksburg morning. Enjoy Fred famous peaches in the summer!
Take a hike
You can’t skip out on a trip to one of our beautiful state parks. Pedernales Falls State Park and Enchanted Rock State Natural Area are both great options for anyone who loves to hike, swim, and even ride on horseback. Pro tip: Make sure to make your reservation in advance and try early morning or early evening if you’re planning to go on a hot day!
